New prize winning project within the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue announced

New prize winning project „What brings us together, what separates us?"
What does your European friend think about that?
In the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, which is coming to its end in the end of 2008, the Delegation of the European Commission to the Republic of Croatia is launching a new prize winning project and the last one within the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue:
„What brings us together, what separates us? "
The project is open from September 15 until October 31, 2008
to all interested young people aged 14-20
with aim of establishing dialogue with friends from other European countries and exchanging opinions with them in order to establish intercultural dialogue. The end of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue and the announcement of the winner for the most precise debate on differences and similarities which contribute to the understanding of European multiculturalism, will take place in Čakovec, in cooperation with Mešimurje County.
With this project the Delegation of the European Commission to the Republic of Croatia wants to:
- promote intercultural dialogue between Croatian and European citizens;
- contribute to the implementation of dialogue in everyday life;
- support intercultural cooperation between young people;
- support constructive exchanges and encourage possible partnerships;
- facilitate productive use of information and communication technologies.
Connect with one or more peers / European pen friends from a European country via e-mail / Internet forum / blog and develop a dialogue on a common subject, which reflects the diversity of opinions, cultural experiences, customs and impressions.
HOW TO START A DEBATE?Choose a common subject with an old or a new peer / European pen friend and develop a thought out dialogue / argumentative discussion (I prefer ‘thought out argumentative discussion') in written form,
via e-mail / Internet forum / blog.
Print your discussion (20 pages maximum) and send it by October 31 to the Delegation of the European Commission to the Republic of Croatia, Trg ¾rtava fašizma 6, 10000 Zagreb, for the contest "What brings us together, what separates us".
AND THE PRIZE?Author of the most precise debate on the differences and similarities which contribute to the understanding of European multiculturalism will travel to their pen friend's country in order to get to know, if only for a little while, a new country, culture and environment.
