Barrot and Tajani appointments

The European Parliament, on 18 June, approved the appointments of Jacques Barrot and Antonio Tajani to the College of Commissioners, following the hearings on 16 June. MEPs voted for the change of portfolio for Commission Vice-President Jacques Barrot, who is taking over responsibility for Freedom, Security and Justice. The Frenchman replaces Franco Frattini and leaves his former portfolio of Commission Vice-President with responsibility for transport to Tajani.
