Local and regional leaders give first assessment on future of regional policy report (18 June)

The thematic dialogue, which takes place at the European Parliament in Brussels, is a first opportunity for regional stakeholders to respond to the report, which was adopted by the College of Commissioners this morning. The report includes the results of a public consultation on the future of cohesion policy and an in-depth analysis of major regional trends.
Participants in the 8th structured dialogue will include Mercedes Bresso, President of Piedmont (Italy) and leader of the CoR's PES group, representing the Conference of European Regions with Legislative Power (REGLEG), Izaskun Bilbao, President of the Basque Parliament and President of the Conference of European Regional Legislative Assemblies (CALRE), Anders Knape, President of the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions and First Vice President of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), and Luis Durnwalder, President of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen-South Tyrol (Italy), represnting the European Association of Elected Representatives from Mountain Areas (AEM).
Commissioner Hübner will also present the 5th cohesion report at a press conference at the European Commission Berlaymont Building at 11:30 today (18 June).
