Croatian Regions Office on ''Open doors''
17.06.2008, 17:53
For the second time, Croatian Regions Office successfully participated in the annual manifestation ''Open doors of the European Institutions'', held on 7 June. Together with other European regions, our office presented the beauty of Croatian counties, cities and municipalities, as the only participant from a non-EU country.
As last year, our stand was situated in the central part of the Committee of the Regions building, which also helped to attract the attention of many visitors. The ''Open doors'' manifestation, in the organization of European institutions, every year marks the Day of Europe. On that day, all European institutions open their doors to all visitors, showing them their activities and working area in order to familiarize ordinary citizens with the huge European administration.
As the 2008 is the European year of intercultural dialogue, this time every region presented its folklore costume. Croatian Regions Office presented a beautiful red costume from Posavina, worn by Mirjana Prodan from Ivanić Grad.
Also, Milena Pavković-Novotny, Director of Sisak-Moslavina touristic board and Ingrid Pađen-Đurić, Director of Sisak touristic board, assisted during the whole day on the stand.
It is worth to mention that Mr. Luc Van den Brande, President of the CoR, who solemnly opened the Croatian Regions Office in March 2007, visited and complimented the richness of our stand.
Visitors have shown great interest for Croatia, collecting all promotional materials, which strengthened our believes that our team had helped to increase the number of touristic bookings, not only along the Adriatic coast, but also in the inlands, where the biggest part of our partner regions and cities is situated.
Key rings with a stork - symbol of Lonjsko polje, were a sensation. It is estimated that 10 000 people visited the manifestation this year.
