Sisak – Moslavina County on the way to EU

On 21 April 2008, the representatives of the Delegation of the European Commission Counsellor Mr David Hudson, Political Adviser Mr Martin Mayer, task manager for human rights, minorities, civil society and demining issues Mr Alfons Peters and Economic and Trade Adviser Ms Srebrenka Gudan visited Sisak. The purpose of the visit was to meet with a number of political and economic representatives of the local community to discuss the economic and social development of the region, as well as Croatia's EU accession from the local perspective. ECD representatives met with the mayor of Sisak, the County Prefect of the Sisak-Moslavina County, the principal of the Sisak High School, representatives of the UNHCR field office, CROMAG and representatives of the County Chamber of Economy, as well as a number of local entrepreneurs. The interlocutors gave an overview of the economic and social development of the city of Sisak and the county, as well as the major challenges and prospects. The representatives of the EC Delegation used also this opportunity to meet with the Sisak High school students, who participated in the EU funded project "At the EU's door", and to have the "Questions and Answers about the EU" time with them.
