Since it emerged, was first mentioned in the 13th century, obtained the status of free royal town in 1356 till the present day, Koprivnica has been developing as a part of middle European culture and civilization circle. The town location is defined by the touch of flat Podravina and slopes of Bilogora and Kalnik, which resulted with various natural tourist potentials in the surrounding area.
Its position on the intersection of roads influenced town development in the domain of traffic, economics and culture. About 30.000 inhabitants live in Koprivnica today. Podravka and its most famous Croatian brand Vegeta are better known than the town itself. Hlebine, located close to Koprivnica, are the cradle of naive art - the most famous Croatian cultural brand in the world. Great values within small area marked the identity and singularity of Koprivnica and Podravina.
Besides the most beautiful town square in continental Croatia, of which its inhabitants are very proud, Koprivnica offers various interesting activities in domain of cultural tourism, recreation, gastronomy, entertainment and it is most famous place of industrial tourism in Croatia. Besides the central manifestation - Motifs from Podravina, other events are also worth to be visited: Shrove Tuesday Parade (February), Fishermen to their town (March), Flower fair and Nettle days (May), Koprivnica summer, Chivalry tournament (August), Chestnut days (September), Galović's autumn. It is not necessary to say a lot about Koprivnica, it is best to visit it and afterwards you will definitely come back.

Koprivnica is presently the moving force of economic development of the region with economy based on processing industry, food industry, pharmaceutical industry, wood processing and paper industry, trade and agriculture.
