The workshop will focus on how Regions and Cities are increasing their engagements on climate and energy in the post-2020 perspective, by exchanging experiences and good practises among partners and participants. The content will be designed in a way to be fully transferable to other regions and cities encouraging networking and capacity building. Moreover, regional initiatives and contributions supported by the Committee of the Region, the European Commission, the Assembly of European regions (AER), the European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy (FEDARENE) will be discussed, in a way to stimulate debate on main issues of the EU Agenda on Climate and Energy. The expected outcome is to raise awareness of politicians, officials and experts on EU policies, norms, tools, instruments and experiences to let EU climate and energy policy to achieve its goals at European, national and regional level, while also improving the lives of citizens.

The event will address the added value of Cohesion Policy across diverse regions, the strategic challenges facing the policy and an analysis on the future of different aspects of the policy from the different regions. The ‘big picture’ will be set out by Mr. Jan Dzięciołowski, a member of Cabinet for Commissioner Corina Crețu and Mr. Jan Olbrycht MEP.

The third call for proposals will be launched on 21 September 2017 and stay open until 25 January 2018. Around 60 million EUR will be available for co-financing new, transnational cooperation ideas. The programme seeks project ideas that help to improve capacities for urban and regional development in four priority areas: innovation and knowledge development, CO2 reduction, natural and cultural resources, and transport. In some areas the third call will be exclusively focused on pre-defined topics.

On 10 and 11 July 2017, the European Commission and the European Committee of the Regions organise the Assises de la Coopération Décentralisée. More than 600 participants, local and regional authorities from the EU, Africa, Caribbean, Pacific and Latin America will come together to discuss common challenges and build sustainable partnerships for cooperation to development.
The 5th edition of the Assises will focus on the crucial role of Local and Regional Authorities in localising the Sustainable Development Goals, in the wake of the new Agenda 2030 for Development.

From June 5th to June 9th Croatian Regions Office hosted a study visit from Zagreb County Regional Development Agency and Zagreb County on the theme of regional development. During the visit to Bruxelles participants had the opportunity to hear about the possibilities for regional and rural development, to establish new networks and cooperation between EU regions, to gain new knowledge regarding ESI funds and to exchange knowledge. The participants met with Irish Regions Brussels Office, Portuguese Permanent Representation to the EU, Schuman Associates, a Brussels-based, independent, consultancy with more than 25 years’ experience in European funding and public affairs, Croatian National Tourist Board - Representative Office in Benelux, Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in the Kingdom of Belgium and Croatian Chamber of Economy Representation in Brussels.
