The role and the challenges of cultural heritage in the EU of tomorrow

The objective of our consortium is to highlight the crucial role of cultural heritage in Europe, not only as a legacy of our past, but also as a resource and a common good that determines attractiveness and competitiveness for business, research, and creative individuals. The session will take place on 9 October and will be divided into two panels: the first will feature four speakers and the second will have three. After each panel, there will be a Q&A session, and a networking coffee break will take place between the panels.

Internationalisation of SMEs - Interreg Europe projects highlight their impact

The Interreg Europe programme funds several projects supporting European SMEs to internationalise. This workshop provides a platform for four of these projects to detail their findings, and share their experiences about what has worked well and what could work better. Each project approaches the subject of internationalisation of SMEs from a different perspective. Projects will implement action plans to embed the findings of the interregional learning process. How will each project make a difference and what is the end user/target group experience? The workshop intends to provide valuable messages for future ERDF programming post 2020.

Wednesday, October 10

11.30 - 13.00 | Building European Parliament
Interregional cooperation for Cohesion policy

The overall aim of the workshop is to exchange experience with other interregional organisations, strengthen partnership networks and improve liaisons with EU institutions in charge of regional policy. The event is designed to encourage regions to make better use of the available EU funds, as well as to present their work to the public at European level, namely with regard to cohesion policy and regional development. This event will be a unique opportunity to bring together member regions, policy- and decision makers, the media and EU institutions. Also, participating organisations will present their activities to the public at European level and be able to underline the work done so far and lay the groundwork for a new phase of their functioning. An added value of the event will be better visibility of the regions, together with other participating organisations.

Investing in People for a Regional and European Success

VET and adult education have a key role in shaping skills for regional development: skills are a driving force for economic and social development. To meet the EU's post-2020 policy objectives for cohesion, development and competitiveness, the role of education, VET, adult education and skills matching will be crucial. This requires public authorities at regional, national and European level to take an innovative approach involving all relevant stakeholders. The workshop will include a keynote from the European Commission on its post-2020 priorities (investing in human capital), followed by a panel discussion with regional representatives with the aim of gaining practical, hands-on conclusions and recommendations for regional and EU policy-makers.
