On 10 and 11 July 2017, the European Commission and the European Committee of the Regions organise the Assises de la Coopération Décentralisée. More than 600 participants, local and regional authorities from the EU, Africa, Caribbean, Pacific and Latin America will come together to discuss common challenges and build sustainable partnerships for cooperation to development.
The 5th edition of the Assises will focus on the crucial role of Local and Regional Authorities in localising the Sustainable Development Goals, in the wake of the new Agenda 2030 for Development.
The conference will consist in thematic plenary sessions, parallel round tables on policy-making, project-oriented workshops and thematic stands with networking areas.
On Day 1 – 10 July, Commissioner Neven Mimica and CoR President Markku Markkula will open the event. Two thematic sessions will deal with the political context and new trends of decentralised cooperation. In the five parallel round tables, organised by a large number of stakeholders, elected local and regional leaders will discuss key political issues.
On Day 2 – 11 July, the plenary session will share and debate the conclusions of the round tables. Six thematic workshops will serve as forum of exchange of experiences and good practices.
A variety of colourful stands will be displayed throughout the Assises.
